Gleaning/Direct Donation Program (Vashon Maury Community Food Bank)

The Fruit Club is partnering w/ the Food Bank in two ways!

Gleaning:  The Gleaning Program is a great resource for those overwhelmed by their gardens and orchards who would like to donate to the Food Bank.  Food Bank volunteers will come to your garden and/or orchard, tools in hand, ready to harvest any kind of produce or fruit you wish and then take it to the Food Bank for distribution.  Please contact the Program Manager, Sam Carp, (206-463-6332) at least one week before peak ripeness if you would like a group to come glean!

Direct Donation:  Folks with extra produce and/or fruit can also donate directly to the Food Bank!  Great times to drop off produce are Mon, Tues and Wed mornings from 9:30am – Noon.  Produce/fruit does not have to be pre-washed, but if it isn’t, please label it, “Unwashed”.  If you would like to be sure that somebody will be there to receive your produce/fruit, you may call the Food Bank office at 206-463-6332.

Produce & fruit donated by the Fruit Club will be tracked so the Food Bank knows how much each group has donated each year.  Please mention that the donation is from the Vashon Island Fruit Club.
